Where the tarpon are

Guatemala borders Mexico to the north and west, Belize to the east and Honduras and El Salvador to the south and southeast.

Where is Guatemala?

Lake Izabal is Guatemala's largest lake, with an area of about 590 sq. kilometers or 228 sq. miles.

The lake is about 115 kilometers (85 miles) from Guatemala City, which is a 2½ hour flight from Miami, 4½ hours from Los Angeles or 3¾ hours from Atlanta.

fishing in Guatemala

Set in a lush and wild Central American jungle, fishing for tarpon in Lake Izabal makes you feel you are as about as far away from civilization as you can get.

...truth be told, you are.

Where are the Tarpon?

Lake Izabal is in the heart of the ancient Mayan world and Mayan sites have been discovered throughout this region. Monkeys swing through trees. Tropical birds squawk. Alligators compete for your catch.

Fishing just doesn't get more exciting than this!
